andromeda was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a sea monster to appease the god poseidon until perseus rescued her. she is immortalised in the sky alongside her mother cassiopeia, her father cepheus, and her rescuer perseus. who u can click on on the starmap too.

- the andromeda galaxy is the nearest large galaxy to our own. it is visible to the naked eye, and it looks like a faint smudge within the constellation. it is 2.5 million light years away
- the galaxy is on a collision course with our galaxy. it will merge with us in about 4.5 billion years, when i was a kid i used to get sooo bummed knowing i wasn't gonna see all that
- alpheratz is the brightest star in andromeda, was historically shared with the constellation pegasus. it sits at the corner of both. kinda sounds like the name of a cocktail
